Scott Weiland's cause of death may have been revealed. According to TMZ, the late Stone Temple Pilots frontman died at the age of 48 from cardiac arrest in Bloomington, Minn., on Thursday, Dec. 3.
TMZ obtained an audio tape of a call between the Bloomington police department and the Hennepin County Sheriff's department. Dispatchers are heard saying that Weiland most likely went into cardiac arrest. Officials, however, have not confirmed the latest development.
As previously reported, Weiland passed away in his sleep on his tour bus, which was parked at a motel. Authorities are still investigating the situation.
Other celebrities also paid their respects. "I saw Scott Weiland perform many times and those were some of my favorite concerts of all time. My thoughts are with his family and friends," film director Judd Apatow wrote. Actress-singerJuliette Lewis, meanwhile, called Weiland an "epic force onstage."
Weiland is survived by his wife, Jamie, and his two children from a previous marriage, Noah, 15, and Lucy, 13. (The couple wed in 2013.)
"I am incredibly happy. She is incredibly beautiful in every aspect of the word. Lovely, smart, passionate. And she loves my kids and I love her son," Weiland told Rolling Stone in November 2012. "She’s the greatest thing that’s happened to me in a long, long time."
