Boko Haram kingpin arrested en route Lagos

A Boko Haram kingpin, Jarasu Shira, who operates in the Damboa, Chibok and Askira axis of Borno State, has been arrested at a motor park in Damboa.

Nigerian army has intercepted fleeing Boko Haram insurgents that attempted to escape from bombardment on Sambisa forest.

The insurgents were running through Pulka. The military decisively dealt with Boko Haram members in blocking position in the area.

Colonel Sani Usman, army’s spokesman, in a statement said that during the encounter many of the terrorists were killed while one was taken alive.

The troops also recovered a General Purpose Machine Gun, several rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunitions, 47 rifle magazines, 36 hand grenades and quite a number of Shilka gun empty shells.

Man Causes Panic At Lagos Airport.. PICS

A young man, whose name was later leanrt to be Alabibu Olushola, caused panic at Murital Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) this morning, December 2.

According to reports, the young man, who airport users thought was a terrorist, appeared at the Lagos airport with a rock sack (a black bag) and approached a Medview plane that was taxiing. However, the captain of the plane noticed him and used high engine thrust to blow him away.

This gave him burns and sores but he still quickly got up, limped from the tarmac and ran into a bush nearby. The airport security officials however ran after him and caught up with him after a hot chase. The airport was later shut down and vigorous search was conducted.

Twin suicide attacks kill five people in north Cameroon

Suspected Boko Haram militants detonated two suicide bombs in a village in northern Cameroon on Saturday, killing at least five people, security sources and an official told Reuters.

“The provisional toll is seven dead, including the two suicide bombers, as well as two soldiers injured,” said a senior government source, requesting anonymity.

Paris attacks: France to hold service two weeks after massacre

Friday's service in central Paris will bring together 1,000 people, including President Francois Hollande as well as survivors and victims' families.

 A minute's silence will be held and the names of all the victims read out. Attackers with assault rifles and suicide belts targeted a number of sites in the capital. Islamic State later said it was behind the assault. In a series of co-ordinated attacks on 13 November, the gunmen opened fire on restaurants and bars in the city and stormed a concert hall, where 89 people were shot dead. Three more attackers blew themselves up outside the Stade de France stadium in Saint-Denis, north of Paris, after staff denied them entry to a football match between France and Germany.

Female suicide bomber kills 7, injures many in Maiduguri

 

Seven people were reportedly killed with scores injured when suspected female suicide bomber in her 20s detonated her Improvised explosive Devices (IEDs) along Maiduguri – Mafa road on Sunday afternoon. Sources said.
The incident according to a police officer who is not authorized to talk to the press said, “The explosion took place at about 12 noon on Sunday near Welcome to Maiduguri Muna Garrage situated along Gamboru Ngala- Dikwa Mafa- Maiduguri troubled road.

Police police detain Algerian in connection with Paris attacks

German police have detained an Algerian man in a refugee reception centre in connection with the attacks in Paris, officials said on Monday.

The man, detained in the town of Arnsberg in western Germany, is being investigated on suspicion of having told Syrian refugees at the centre in recent days that fear and terror would be spread in the French capital.

He is also alleged to have spoken about a bomb. The senior public prosecutor in Arnsberg, Werner Wolff, said checks were being made into whether the allegations were credible.

"There is currently an investigation into whether the man is an accomplice or a confidant," said Ralf Jaeger, Interior Minister for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Jaeger added that there was no solid evidence at the moment that the attackers in Paris had a connection to North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW).

"There is also no concrete evidence that attacks are planned in NRW or the (German) federal republic," he said, adding that the situation was nonetheless "very serious".

Charles Okah attempts jumping from court’s third floor

Abuja- Security operatives attached to Justice Gabriel Kolawole at the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday prevented Charles Okah, the alleged mastermind of the 2010 Independence Day bombing from committing suicide in court.

Okah, who is standing trial on charges of terrorism, had sought the permission of the judge to speak on what he termed “endless trial,” as his counsel was absent in court.

The judge granted the oral application and permitted Okah to speak for about five minutes.

Okah said: “I have been incarcerated for about five years now and I have a family to cater for. My children would grow up without feeling the warmth of their father and I am tired of this endless trial.  I really do not know what I have done to be treated this way.

“Is it not better to die than to wait and be messed up this way?” he asked.
