Benitez Sacked! Zidane 11th Real Madrid coach in 12 years under Perez

The hiring of Zinedine Ziidane as Real Madrid boss on Monday makes the French legend the 11th coach to serve under Florentino Perez during his two spells as club president between June 2000-February 2006 and from June 2009 until the present day.

The 68-year-old has sanctioned the spending of over a billion euros on transfer fees during that time for the return of just two league titles, two Champions League crowns and one Copa del Rey.

Vicente del Bosque (November 1999-June 2003)

Arguably Perez’s most famous and ludicrous decision was to let the now Spanish national team manager go just days after he had won a second league title in three seasons.

Del Bosque was also in charge for Madrid’s ninth Champions League victory in 2002.

Carlos Queiroz (June 2003-May 2004)

The Portuguese was already a well-known name due to his position as Sir Alex Ferguson’s assistant at Manchester United, but he failed to make a successful transition into the top job at the Bernabeu.

After a promising start, Madrid collapsed to finish just fourth in the league and were also surprisingly eliminated at the quarter-final stage of the Champions League by Monaco.

Valencia Has Confirmed Death During The Match Against Barcelona

The Spanish football club confirmed that a fan has died after he collapsed celebrating their late equalizer against Barca

Valencia’s Santi Mina scored goal against Barcelona at 86th minute. However,  the celebration was marred by reports about death of Valencia supporter.

Barcelona and Valencia played a 1:1 draw

The administration of the club extended their condolences to the supporter’s family, which is as of yet unnamed.

 The statement read: “Valencia were sad to learn of the death of a fan following the match at Mestalla on Saturday.”

Although the cause of his death has not been made known, the retired goaltender died today, Wednesday, December 2, according to Gongnews.net.

Drogba to manage Chelsea

FORMER Chelsea  striker Didier Drogba says he has an agreement to return to the club once he finishes playing and wants it to be as manager.

Drogba, who now plays in Canada, scored 164 goals in two spells with the Blues.

“I want to give back to the club which has given so much to me. I have agreed that with the club directors,” the 37-year-old told BBC Africa.

Dream Team escapes plane crash in Accra

Nigeria U-23 team escaped plane crash while travelling to Gambia on Sunday morning as part of preparations for the African U-23 Championship billed for Senegal.

The Dream Team VI opted for the West African country after the initial trip to Morocco was cancelled due to visa issues, Goal reports.

A senior official of the team said the pilot of the Arik Aircraft made an emergency landing in Accra, Ghana, due to technical problems.

“Thank God for his goodness and his mercies that we escaped a plane crash on our way to Gambia. The pilot had to make an emergency landing in Accra and we are still in Accra,” the official told Goal.

“We are still stranded here and we are yet to get any news from Arik officials.”
